How do the Barn components get to my site?

Your barn is delivered door to door by tractor trailer.

Do I have to hire a builder to build my barn or can I do it myself?

You can put together your own building crew which should consist of two skilled carpenters and two laborers to work with our certified shell specialist. A less skilled crew would require additional supervisor time.

How are the barns built?

At our shops, we cut and notch the post and beam frames, and build the eight foot wide roof panels for easy construction. The post and beam frame pieces are all numbered accordingly and the wall purlins and siding are attached directly to the frame. An All- Terrain fork lift provided by the builder or owner is used to unload components, raise the frame, and to set the roof panels into place. Normal carpentry tools are used on site. A crane may be necessary if the site is not accessible from all sides.

How quickly can I get my barn components delivered and raised?

Typically it takes about 6-8 weeks to deliver your barn components from the time we receive your twenty percent down payment. From there it takes about 10 days to put your barn together depending on the size and the skill level of your crew.

Do I need permits for building my barn?

Yes, you will need to check with your local building inspector to determine what permits you will need to construct your barn. The barns are designed to meet the International Building Code and Building Use Group "U" (utility and miscellaneous).

How does the barn differ from normal construction?

The Barns are built with heavy post & beam frames, and rough sawn lumber to give you an authentic barn look and feel, rather than a plywood garage-type structure. A structure for the ages if you will.

How does the barn differ from a typical pole barn?

Pole construction buildings are typically built with pressure treated lumber, and often have dirt floors suitable for a somewhat shorter useful life.  A Barnmakers Barn reproduces the durability as well as the look and feel of a well made old barn with heavy eastern white pine post and beam frame, along with spruce or hemlock boards and rafters roof panels, and pine shiplap siding.

Do I need a foundation?

We recommend some type of foundation to protect your investment in the barn. We suggest footings and a perimeter frost wall.

Can I get a smaller or larger Barn?

Yes, we do offer options to increase or decrease the length of the standard structures.

Are your barn plans for sale ?
